Terms of service

What you are agreeing to.

Written to be read. These terms are the agreement between you and the business behind My Energy Agent, and they say what we sell, what it costs, when you are charged and what happens when something goes wrong.

Effective 10 September 2026.

In short

We price every electricity plan available at your address against your own usage and tell you which ones are worth switching to. We are paid by you and never by a retailer. We do not sell electricity, and we do not switch you: you decide, and you sign up with the retailer yourself. Our figures are careful estimates of what a plan would cost you, not a promise of what you will pay.

1. Who you are contracting with

My Energy Agent is operated by The Trustee for Rowe Digital Trust, ABN 13 313 912 737, trading as My Energy Agent. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean that entity, and “you” means the person who uses the service or pays for it. Our business details and how to reach us are on the contact page.

By using this website or buying anything from it you accept these terms, our refunds and cancellations policy and our privacy policy, which form part of this agreement.

2. What we sell

An independent electricity plan comparison and advice service for households in South East Queensland. Everything we sell is digital and delivered over the internet. Nothing is posted to you.

Free Quick Scan
Free. An approximate picture of the plans available at a postcode, priced on a typical household rather than yours. No payment, no bill and no account.
Check My Plan, A$9.99 once
A personalised comparison: every generally available residential plan for your postcode priced against your own usage, your estimated yearly cost, the plans worth switching to and a 12-month forecast. A one-off purchase that does not renew.
Energy Watch, A$29 a year, and Always On, A$49 a year
The same personalised comparison to start, then repeat checks through the year on the schedule described on the pricing page, with a new report when a plan beats yours by more than the threshold you set. Billed yearly until you cancel.

What we do is described in full on the methodology page, which stays public and applies to every report we produce.

3. Who can buy

You must be at least 18, live in Australia, and be buying for your own household rather than for resale. The paid service only works for homes in the Energex distribution area of South East Queensland, because that is the only network we price. We do not sell to customers outside Australia, and the service is not offered anywhere else.

4. What you give us

You give us an address, or bills, or a meter data file, and answers to a few questions about your home. You agree that what you give us is yours to give and is accurate as far as you know. Our figures are only as good as the inputs: if a bill is not yours or the answers are wrong, the comparison will be wrong, and that is not a fault we can refund.

You may not upload anything unlawful, use the service to scrape or resell our comparisons, attempt to break or overload it, or present our reports as your own advice to other people.

5. Prices, GST and currency

All prices on this site are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST. The price you see at checkout is the price charged; there are no other fees, and we add nothing for paying by card. Your receipt is a valid tax invoice.

Prices shown before launch are indicative. Final prices are confirmed before launch, and if the launch price is lower than the one shown, that is what you pay. We will not charge more than the price you agreed at checkout.

6. Payment and renewals

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number: it goes from your browser to Stripe, which is certified to the card industry’s PCI DSS standard. We keep only the record of what you bought and what you paid.

  • The one-off check is charged once, when you buy it. Nothing renews and nothing else is charged.
  • The watch plans are charged when you start and again on each yearly renewal until you cancel. The amount, the renewal date and how to cancel are shown at checkout and repeated in your confirmation email, and you agree to the recurring charge explicitly before the first payment. A reminder goes out 14 days before each renewal.
  • Price changes come with at least 30 days’ notice by email, and you can cancel before a new price applies.
  • A failed renewal payment is retried for up to 14 days. If it still cannot be taken, the plan stops and the checks stop with it. Nothing is sent to debt collection.

7. When you get what you paid for

The Free Quick Scan appears on screen straight away. A paid comparison is delivered usually within two minutes of payment, on screen and by email: the report opens on a private link and a PDF copy is emailed to the address you gave us. If a run cannot finish, we re-run it, and if we still cannot deliver within one business day you get a full refund. The full policy is on the refunds and cancellations page.

8. Cancelling and refunds

No lock-in. Cancel any time from your report page: nothing more is charged, and we keep checking until the end of the year you've paid for. No exit fee.

Refunds, including the cases where we refund without being asked, are set out on the refunds and cancellations page. Nothing there or here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

9. What we promise, and what we do not

We promise that:

  • we compare every generally available residential plan for your postcode published to the Australian Energy Regulator’s Consumer Data Right feed, not a panel of retailers who pay us;
  • we take no commission, referral fee, advertising money or other payment from any energy retailer, and never will;
  • every dollar figure in your report is computed by our pricing engine, not written by an AI model; and
  • we follow the method published on the methodology page.

We do not promise that:

  • you will save money. Whether there is a better plan for you depends on the market and on what you already pay, and sometimes the answer is that you are already on a good deal. We tell you when that is the case;
  • your bill will match our forecast. A forecast prices published rates against a modelled year of your usage. Your actual bill depends on the weather, your household and any change your retailer makes;
  • a plan we name will still be offered, or still be offered on those terms, when you go to sign up. Retailers change and withdraw plans, and the plan data is a daily snapshot whose date is printed on your report; or
  • the service will be available without interruption.

We are not a licensed energy retailer, a financial adviser or a law firm, and nothing we produce is financial, legal or tax advice. We do not switch you: you sign up with the retailer yourself, and your contract for electricity is with them, not with us.

10. Your rights under Australian law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the service put right if it is not of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees. Where we are allowed to limit our liability, we limit it to re-supplying the service or refunding what you paid for it, whichever we choose. We are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for a decision you make about your electricity contract, which is yours to make.

11. Your data

What we collect, where it is stored, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted are set out in the privacy policy. In short: your personal data stays in Australia, it is never sold, and it is never shared with an energy retailer.

12. Our work stays ours

The site, the pricing engine, the method and the wording of your report are ours. Your report is licensed to you for your own household’s use: read it, keep it, act on it, show it to whoever you like. You may not republish it, sell it or use it to run a comparison service. Plan data belongs to the retailers who publish it and to the Australian Energy Regulator.

13. When we can stop serving you

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to scrape or resell our comparisons, or where we are required to by law. If we close your account and you have not broken these terms, we refund the unused part of a watch plan pro rata.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. If a change materially affects what you have paid for, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before it does. Everyday changes take effect when they are published here, with a new effective date at the top of this page. The terms that apply to a purchase are the ones in force when you made it.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If a term is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the agreement stands.

16. Contact

Any question about these terms, or any notice you need to give us, goes to hello@myenergyagent.au. It is the only address we publish and it reaches the people who run the service.
